Discovery Girls Review and Giveaway!

Discovery Girls Review and Giveaway!

When I was about 10 years old, I picked up my first issue of a popular magazine targeted at young girls, and I had my first taste of insecurity. I saw flawless models, clothing I knew I could never afford to have, and read stories about things far too mature for me. As I went through the formative years of 9-15, I was without a suitable guide…There simply wasn’t a magazine on the market that was age appropriate that would still interest me. How I wish there had been Discovery Girls for me!

Discovery Girls is a magazine designed specifically for tween girls. Your daughter will never come face to face with some airbrushed model…Instead, she will see REAL girls, just like her on the cover and between the pages of Discovery Girls! Girls of every shape and size from various cultural backgrounds are featured, wearing age-appropriate clothing and very minimal makeup. Each issue contains stories and articles that relate to the joys and trials that today’s pre-teens face. As a parent, I LOVE knowing that my daughter will never be faced with ads, images, or articles that will lower her self-esteem or cause her to want to grow up before she has to. Instead, she will see stories about friendship, school, positive role models,  and read articles written by other young girls! YOUR daughter (and everyone’s daughter) has the chance to contribute to the magazine! There are many interactive features that allow girls to get involved and share their experiences and ideas with each other….what an amazing way to encourage writing, self-esteem, and confidence! As a mother, I would be happy to share Discovery Girls with my own daughter. Seeing a magazine targeted towards young girls that is actually age-appropriate is such a breath of fresh air. We have so many things to worry about as parents, and our children are bombarded with adult images and messages in so many mediums….I have to say that a young girl’s magazine that writes about “How to Make a Scrapbook for your Pet,”  “How to Repair Trust with a Friend,” and includes items like sunscreen and water in an “essential beauty bag” is a godsend.

The Discovery Girls magazine just launched their super-sized Collector’s Edition issue….10 years of the very best of Discovery Girls. This issue (that I was lucky enough to preview, along with a complimentary subscription to this awesome publication), features the very best stories, advice, and tips from the last 10 years. You can get a copy of this issue plus 2 free gifts for just $9.95. Buy it HERE! You can also subscribe to Discovery Girls magazine. A year’s subscription (6 issues) is $19.95, and includes several bonus gifts! Subscribe HERE!
