I don’t know how many times I’ve started to think about dinner and have wished I could remember if my kids liked it or not. How many of you have also gone through the dinnertime battle with a picky eater, and would be interested in avoiding the fight from time to time? While I am all for making kids try new things, sometimes it is great to go into a meal knowing the arguments I’m going to face.

Then, there are evenings like tonight when our pickiest eater DEVOURED his dinner, and had three helpings! I thought to myself, I need to remember that he likes this so much! Thus, I headed out to create the “Rate That Dinner” chart, and wanted to share it with you as a quick and handy resource!

Here’s how to make your own “Rate That Dinner” chart!

1. Open Word and select the font you like.

2. Select Insert, and choose, “insert table.”

3. For Columns, select the number of people in your family plus one

4. Choose 20 rows (you can add more later!)

5. Write “Dinner” in the first column, and the names of your family members in the subsequent columns.

Then, print this out and tape it to the inside of one of your cabinets or hang it on the fridge. Each night after your family eats dinner, jot down your family’s thoughts on the meal.

Here is my example for you to check out!

  1. This is such a great idea. I also started one for when we have company. I write down who it was, and what we had….if they had seconds. I also keep notes on who doesn’t, or can’t eat what. It’s been helpful…and then I don’t make the same people the same thing all the time!
