Cereal Pumpkin Treats
I have ALWAYS loved holidays. Now that I’m a mom, I love looking for ways to make the holiday season that much more special for my kiddos. However, as a WAHM of 4, I need SIMPLE ideas. Well ladies, these cereal pumpkin treats could not be any easier! (And they’re pretty tasty!)
Make a batch of these and send them to soccer practice, the holiday party, the school bake sale, and they will be a hit!
3 T butter or margarine
1 package (10 oz) regular marshmallows (about 40)
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
6 cups Kix cereal
2 regular Hershey bars
Melt the margarine and marshmallows over low heat, stirring frequently, until the marshmallows have completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in the butterscotch chips. Once melted, stir in the Kix cereal. Scoop out spoonfuls of the mix, and place onto baking sheet. *You may need to mound the mixture into nice pumpkin shapes with your hands. You can coat your hands with a light layer of butter to prevent a sticky mess!* Nestle a section of a Hershey bar on top of each cereal treat pumpkin to act as a stem. Enjoy once cooled!
*If you don’t care for butterscotch, simply add several drops of orange food coloring to the melted butter/marshmallow mix, prior to adding the cereal.
*I have also added a large spoonful of peanut butter in with the butterscotch chips.
*You can use Cheerios or Rice Krispies in this recipe as well.
Enjoy, and have a wonderful Halloween season!
