Family Fun Night is a weekly tradition designed to get moms and dads spending more intentional time with their kids. The ideas are simple, practical, and do-able! It isn’t about creating the most elaborate, expensive, or most “pinnable” evening with your kids….all they need is YOU. Have fun, keep it simple, and make some memories!

*I am a bit behind on some of the companion posts for this week. My family has been going through a time of transition, and I’ve taken a few days off. I will work to get the recipe and activity posts up for you soon!

Music:  The “Beach Boy” channel on Pandora beach boys

Keeping in mind that I want to expose my kids to a wide variety of music, I decided to introduce them to “pop” from the 60’s. (I happen to be a tad obsessed with that era…) We rocked out to the Monkees, The Temptations, and Van Morrison. I’m not even a little bit ashamed to admit I knew the lyrics to EVERY song that came on. What can I say? I was supposed to live on the set of Mad Men.

Teriyaki chickenDinner: Crock-pot Teriyaki Chicken

My kids are all big fans of Asian flavors, and could subsist entirely on rice, so this is a family favorite. I served this up with a side of rice and stir-fry veggies. This is super easy to prepare, and the chicken is absolutely delicious.

Dessert: Best Ever No Bake Chocolate Cheesecake (recipe coming SOON!)

This recipe is one of my “go-to” desserts, and is probably my husband’s FAVORITE thing I make. This cheesecake is incredibly simple, and doesn’t require a ton of cream cheese. I am a HUGE fan of this recipe, and love the versatility of it. I will try to post the recipe for this soon!

valentine snoopyMovie: Happy Valentine’s Day Charlie Brown

We love Charlie Brown around our house, and watch the Halloween and Christmas specials each year. Though the Valentine’s church is new, we enjoyed our favorite characters, and this cute little movie. (Currently on streaming Netflix.)

Activity: Heart Worksheets

I developed a little “unit” featuring fun worksheets and activities for the kids. I will be offering this unit later this week. It includes a few games, a Mad Lib, some math activities…fun stuff! I love incorporating learning into our family time. I think it is important for kids to learn alongside their parents, creating allies of education. As we played the games together, and worked through the story, the kids didn’t realize just how much information they were taking in…they were just enjoying time with Mom and Dad!

Are you making the effort to have intentional family time once a week? I hope so! See you next week, for more family fun! If you are having family time, I’d LOVE to hear about it! Let me know in the comments!
