Meat and Cheese Pinwheels
I don’t know about you, but I would get pretty tired of eating a PB&J every day for lunch. Sandwiches can get old fast, and many end up in the trash instead of in your child’s tummy! These meat and cheese pinwheels are an awesome sandwich alternative that will give your child an alternative from the traditional sandwich.
These are also a great after-school snack or a quick weeknight dinner. Just add a fruit or veggie and the side dish of your choice, and you’ve got a meal! Customize your pinwheels by mixing up the filling – you can’t go wrong!
Did I mention how crazy-easy and oh-s0-economical these are to make?! You just need 3 ingredients and about 2 minutes of prep-time.
1 tube crescent roll dough
Seriously, that’s it!
1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
2. Unroll the crescent roll dough into one large rectangle. (If you unroll it right, it will already be in a rectangle for you.) Pinch any loose seams together.
3. Lay several slices of deli meat on top of the dough, and top with your favorite cheese. (*I think grated cheese works better than sliced cheese.)
4. Starting at the “short” end, roll the dough into a log, as if you were making cinnamon rolls. Cut into 7-8 slices.
5. Spray a pan with cooking spray. Lay the cut rolls into the pan and bake for approximately 15 minutes. Oven times and temps may vary, so keep a watchful eye.
These are great hot out of the oven OR pop them in the fridge, and serve them up in your child’s lunchbox. My kids LOVE these things, and I like having this quick and easy recipe in my back pocket for afternoons when I’m short on time and they’re burned out on our regular lunch options.
