I grew up watching PBS. I learned about the alphabet, that books are magical, and that I was special. Now as a mother of four, I couldn’t be more excited to watch my children grow up with PBS. Whether my kids are spending time in the neighborhood with Daniel Tiger or sailing the seven seas with Peg and her buddy Cat, I know that not only are they watching age-appropriate television, they’re learning. Early literacy, science, and mathematical concepts, along with social and behavior skills are presented seamlessly.
We were blessed to receive two exciting new educational DVDs from PBS Kids: Peg + Cat: Pirates Ahoy! And Other Really Big Problems, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Welcome to the Neighborhood DVD and Puzzle. The kids couldn’t have been more thrilled, and I loved watching them enjoy their new movies. Here is what we got to watch:
From helping a group of hungry pirates fairly share tropical fruit, to measuring their way to buried treasure, Peg and Cat embark on swashbuckling adventures in this new fun-filled DVD that will help kids learn problem solving and foundational math concepts and skills.
I LOVE that my kids are being exposed to mathematical concepts at an early age. The concepts are presented in a fun way, perfectly embedded in the high-interest stories. Your kids will love their adventures with Peg + Cat, all while soaking up valuable information.
Each PEG + CAT adventure features a story in which Peg and Cat encounter an unexpected challenge that requires them to use math and problem-solving skills in order to save the day. While teaching specific math lessons, the series displays the values of resilience and perseverance.
Mr. Rogers holds a very special place in my heart. I am so thrilled that his work and message is living on in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. We’ve been big Daniel fans right from the start, so my two preschoolers were so excited to have a Daniel movie of their own.
As (kids) closely follow and share Daniel’s everyday adventures, preschoolers ages 2-4 and their families learn the fun and practical strategies and skills necessary for growing and learning. This DVD has a run time of approximately 50 minutes and features three grr-ific adventures – “Daniel’s Birthday,” “Daniel’s Picnic,” and “Neighbor Day.”
I highly recommend checking out the entire line of educational DVDs offered by PBS Kids. You can check out the PBS Kids Shop and find your child’s favorite characters. With PBS Kids, every day can be special!
