Remodeling Your Bathroom: Making Beautiful Choices
My family and I are planning a move this summer. Once the boxes are unpacked, the beds are set up, and the dishes are put away – the fun will begin! While many consider re-locating a chore, I’m excited to re-model a new home and truly make it our own. I love looking at a room like a blank canvas – seeing past the design choices of the previous owners, and instead, seeing possibility!
Like many homeowners, one of the first rooms in a home to be remodeled, re-done, or “freshened up” after a move is the bathroom! Let’s face it – we all want a clean and fresh bathroom – preferably without any traces of strangers! In addition to a new coat of paint and a thorough cleaning, we’re excited to put a few modern and beautiful touches in each of our new bathrooms. (And yes, I just used the word beautiful in relation to a bathroom!)
I’ve been scouring Pinterest, searching for easy DIY fixes. I’ve learned ways to fix ugly floors, make floating shelves, and have a few paint colors picked out. All bathrooms in our home will kiss their “builder’s grade oak” cabinets goodbye with a fresh coat of dark gel stain. (It’s the easiest and most affordable ugly bathroom fix ever!)
The kids’ bathroom will be painted a happy yellow and have a “chevron” theme. I’m going to hang mason jars attached to old barn wood on the wall for personal toothbrush/toothpaste holders, and eventually swap out the light fixture. The master bathroom flows right into the bedroom, so neatness and organization will be critical. Over time, I want to upgrade all of our bathroom faucets – selecting more modern pieces that will compliment our decor. (I love the oil rubbed bronze finishes!)
Step by step and bit by bit, our new bathrooms will become modern, fresh, and beautiful. We might not have a walk-in double shower overnight, but with hard work, a few great products, and pops of color, we can create something to be proud of.
