Do you want to build a snowman? How about a shiny, shimmery, beautiful snowflake? These snowflakes look like Elsa hit them with a bit of her magic, and are the perfect afternoon craft for your children!

We made these snowflakes at my daughter’s Frozen themed birthday party, and all of the kids loved getting to make and take their own snowflake! These were so much fun to make and so SIMPLE too! In no time at all, you can have your own window full of snow!

What You’ll Need

Epsom Salt

water

paint brushes

cardstock – We used blue and white, but you could make a full rainbow of snowflakes if you like!

How to Make Your Snowflake

1. Start with a square of cardstock. Fold your paper and cut out your desired snowflake shapes and patterns. You can be as simple or as fancy as you like!

2. Unfold and admire your snowflake!

3. Mix together equal parts of water and epsom salt in a small bowl. We found that 1 Tablespoon of water mixed with 1 Tablespoon of epsom salt worked great – and was the right amount for kids to work with.DSC_0735

4. Begin to paint your snowflake. Make sure to get a good amount of salt on your paper. The more salt you use, the more crystals you’ll have on your finished product.

5. Once you are satisfied with your snowflake, set it aside to dry. Within 15-30 minutes, you’ll see your crystals start to appear.

These snowflakes are perfect any time of the year! Now you don’t have to wait until winter. Make Olaf happy and let it snow in summer, spring, fall, or winter!
