I do pretty well when it comes to cleaning my home. I vacuum compulsively, never leave dishes in the sink, and make the beds every day. But, when it comes to keeping my car clean….let’s just say I’m embarrassed when people follow me out to the parking lot. I struggle to keep the interior AND the exterior of my car clean. But, spring cleaning isn’t just for your home – it’s a smart thing to do for your vehicles, too. A few simple steps can help boost your vehicle’s integrity and beauty while maintaining its value, plus you might even regain that new-car smell….or at least make the smell of old goldfish crackers and mushed up bananas go away. =)

I’ve teamed up with WaterSavers to give you three great reasons to keep your car clean and shiny. I also have an awesome giveaway for you to enter!

1. Your car is a reflection of who you are

There’s no question your car is a reflection on you. Whether it’s all about horsepower, efficient gas mileage or four-wheel drive, your vehicle represents who you are, where you’ve been and where you intend to go. The design, form and function are extensions of your style and personality. So, if you haven’t given it a wash in a while, what does that say about you?

From dirt and dust to grit and grime, give that car its reflective shine at a WaterSavers car wash. WaterSavers professional car washes use an average of 40 gallons of fresh water or less per car, according to the International Carwash Association. As a frame of reference, that 10 minute shower you took used 25 gallons of fresh water. WaterSavers washes also recycle and filter the water to prevent harmful chemicals from entering groundwater supplies that feed rivers and streams. To find a WaterSavers car wash near you, visit

2. Regular car washes protect your paint job

That beautiful factory paint job will dull and begin to chip away if you don’t maintain it. Regularly washing your car and waxing it will help keep your car looking as good as it did when you pulled out of the dealer lot.

3. Professional car washes help maintain the value of the vehicle

You might be more inclined to spend money on engine issues than the car’s exterior, but stains and rusting can drastically decrease the value of the vehicle over time. Especially after a long winter, exposure to the elements can cause damage. Professional car washes thoroughly clean the undercarriage of your vehicle, where there may be a buildup of road salt that could cause corrosion to the car’s exhaust and muffler system.

I so often neglect the cleanliness of my car. If our cars really do reflect who we are, mine says I’m a stressed and tired mother of four active (and fairly messy) kids. While my car may never look as good as it did the day we bought it, I am inspired to take that “spring cleaning” mentality outside to the my driveway, and help spruce it up. Will you?

  1. Awesome giveaway!! 🙂 thank you! Hopefully I won’t ever need to use most of the car stuff but it would be wonderful to have just in case!

  2. Start Spring cleaning early with a checklist so you can get outdoors and enjoy the nice weather.

  3. My tip is to declutter first, decide what to toss away or donate, then clean one room, one area of one room at a time.

  4. have a gameplan! then go from room to room.

  5. My best spring cleaning tip is to make a list of what needs to be done and work from the list. Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. Start off at your front door, and work your way around.

  7. My tip is to do a little every day so you don’t get overwhelmed.

  8. Go room by room and don’t put a time limit on it.

  9. I clean one room at a time thoroughly before moving on to the next.

  10. My tip is to clean a little bit every day

  11. We start when the weather is cold and rainy. Empty the drawer, closet or room out Clean from top to bottom and get rid of stuff! We all have way too much stuff.

  12. My tip is to do a little everyday so that it doesn’t pile up and feel overwhelming. When I feel overwhelmed, I want to throw in the towel and not do it at all, then I get cranky and annoyed. So if I keep up on it, everyone is happy.

  13. Using lemons to deodorize natuarally

  14. I like to pick one task to complete every day. If its late it may just be a small task (organize 1 drawer). Eventually, I will get everything done!

  15. my tip would be to not put off the cleaning like *I* always do

  16. Try not to get overwhelmed by trying to do it all at once. Break the cleaning down into certain rooms on several days and it will be easier.

  17. Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. make a list and clean one room at a time.

  19. take your time

  20. I always start my spring cleaning by pulling down curtains and stripping beds … From there I start in the living room and work my way toward the bathroom (living room, dining room and kitchen are in between) …Then I bounce from one bedroom to the next cleaning and clearing them from top to bottom … My bedroom always gets done last && most of the time, I won’t get to it until the following day …After my room is finished, I then do the porches (front and back) the car is the last thing I tare through … I take a half a day doing the car … and viola I am finished …Maintaining is easy through the summer!! Thank you for the Giveaway!!

  21. My best tip is not to try to do it all at one time. Spread it out!

  22. clean each room and listen to music as you go makes it more fun—

  23. Tip: Don’t stress about every little detail.

  24. Always begin on the right side of your stove, then move clockwise around the room. The stove is typically the dirtiest part of the kitchen, so ending with it keeps you from spreading dirt and grease. (First, soak drip pans and knobs in warm soapy water. By the time you’ve worked your way around, they’ll be easier to clean.)

  25. My tip is to clean a little everyday so that it doesn’t pile up and feel overwhelming.

  26. My best spring cleaning tip is to do 1 room at a time.
