This post is written in partnership with Academics’ Choice and Bob Books. Though I received a free download of the app and was compensated for my time, opinions are 100% my own.

Emergent readers have been learning decoding, fluency, and other reading skills with the help of Sam, Mat, Dot, and the other friends found in the best-selling Bob Books readers. In our home, we’ve not only utilized several of the popular boxed emerging reader book sets, but also enjoy playing the Happy Hats board game. So, when we found out that Bob Books had workbooks, we were thrilled!

There is a workbook for:

  • Beginning Readers (Pre-K)
  • Emerging Readers (K)
  • Developing Readers (K-1)

Each workbook is based on three of the Bob Books boxed sets, allowing you to offer your child not only supplemental practice, but consistency and predictability – two key ingredients for early reading success! Each page in the workbook is marked to let you know which book it corresponds to. (How incredible is that?!)

I LOVE that young learners will experience repetition and familiarity when they use both the Bob Books and the workbooks in conjunction. Not only will they see the characters they are familiar with, but will have the opportunity to practice the sight words, phonics skills, etc they are working on in the books. Everything goes hand in hand.

The workbook activities are right in the zone of proximal development – engaging and beneficial without being overwhelming or stressful.

Choose the workbook that best meets the needs of your child. Each workbook includes stickers, certificates of achievement, coloring pages, and games and/or activities in addition to things like handwriting practice, sight word work, phonics skills, letter skills, and so much more. At just $12.99 (or less!!) each, these JUMBO workbooks are well worth the investment.

You can purchase each of the available Bob Books Workbooks on Amazon, through the Bob Books website, or at a retailer near you.

If you are connected to a child who is learning to read or just starting to work on beginning reading skills (like the alphabet, letter sounds, etc.) I highly encourage you to check out the Bob Books Workbooks.
