I am so thrilled to feature another great mom here in the “Mom Spotlight” today! When we take the time to stop and find out more about each other, we grow together as a community. We see how truly connected we all are, and realize we are not alone in how we operate. So, sit back, relax, grab a cup of coffee, and meet Christy!

The Basics:

Name: Christy, Mom, Mama, Auntie, & Honey

Age: just turned 34

Kids: Zac 15 & Sara 13 (YEP, 2 teenagers!)

Hometown: don’t really have one…had a single Mom & we moved around Washington quite a bit.

Kid Stuff:

Children’s TV show I actually LIKE: Dora the Explorer…so sad that my kiddos are too old to watch it now!

My children are NOT allowed to watch: Rated R movies or PG-13 movies unless I’ve given permission.

One kids’ movie I really love is: I love all 3 Toy Story Movies…great memories of great times in our lives as the kids have gotten older.

My favorite book(s) to read to my kids are: Don’t really read to them anymore since they’re older but I used to love reading The Poky Little Puppy, The Little Engine That Could & anything Dr. Suess

My kids go to bed at: anytime between 8:30-9 on school nights. But of course they eventually fall asleep sometime before 10.

My favorite rainy day activity is: movies with the kiddos or baking. Or sometimes we’ll go to a movie or shopping.

When it’s warm out: We find a beach, lake or park to play at. Wondering what this Summer will bring now that I have 2 teenagers…they might just want to “hang with friends”

My favorite kid friendly restaurants are: Red Robin…its always so loud, we fit right in.

Let’s Eat:

The pantry item I absolutely cannot live without is: Cream of Mushroom soup…there are so many dishes you can make with it that are fast & easy!

My go-to weeknight dinner is: Spaghetti or Tacos…both big faves for the kids.

My go-to company meal is: Smothered Burritos. Very easy, taste so good & everyone loves them.

The food I pretend to buy for the kids that is really for me is: String Cheese…love that stuff. In fact, after my foot surgery in October, the pain meds made everything taste gross except string cheese, that’s what I lived on for about a week.

My food weakness is: pizza…I could eat it every day. I look for any excuse to order it for dinner too…

I am not myself in the morning until I’ve had my cup of: coffee!! Hubby bought me a Keurig for my birthday in December so it’s even faster now…(I’m sure the kids are SO thankful for that!) I love it so much that I hardly buy from a stand anymore…I’d rather have my fast cup of coffee with my favorite creamer. (Coconut cream)

ME:

Aside from my kids, I am PASSIONATE about: my job. I recently went back to work managing a Children’s Consignment store. I love the adult interaction, getting to know our customers, seeing all the kids & providing a great community resource.

If I had a whole day all to myself, I would: I would say that I would read or take a nap or a walk but I’d probably end up doing something around the house or get caught up on my DVR’d shows.

My absolute most favorite movie of all time is:

My favorite TV show is: Glee…I can’t get enough!

My celebrity crush is: probably Kenny Chesney

If you were to put my ipod on shuffle, you’d likely hear: Songs from Glee, Seal, Kenny Chesney, Bruno Mars, Jack Johnson, Sara Evans, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Carrie Underwood, Gary Allan, Pink, Kesha….I listen to everything!

The best book I ever read was: last Summer I read “The 5 people you meet in Heaven” and loved it. Made me really think about stuff.

My spouse (partner) and I keep romance alive by: planning date nights whenever we can & keep humor in our day to day lives.

My favorite place to shop is: Kohls, Old Navy & Costco

I am sent to my breaking point when: I look around after I just dropped someone off or said yes to another activity & realize the chores haven’t been done.

When I’m stressed out I: clean or go to my room…….

My favorite (most tolerated) way to exercise is: walking although I’m trying really hard to get back into running again. After a ganglion cyst in my foot for 2 yrs & removal in October, it’s been awhile!

The best piece of advice I ever received was: let the house be messy, play with the kids!
