After weeks of sampling your incredible potato recipes (I know…rough rough life I lead..) the winner has been chosen. Teaming up with the awesome folks over at Idahoan has been such an incredible experience, and I was so impressed with the recipes that came in for the Idahoan Chasing Supermom Recipe Challenge! The challenge was to take any of the already terrific products put out by Idahoan, and create a recipe incorporating the product. I made casseroles, soups, bread dishes, appetizers….The Chasing Supermom readers know their way around a potato! In case you missed the other contest winners, you won’t want to miss second runner up Denise E’s recipe for Southwest Fish Filets, or first runner up Heidi K’s recipe for Sausage and Potato Quesadillas! The winning recipe is for a soft herbed potato roll that will blow your mind! I LOVE to bake, and love to experiment with different bread and roll recipes. These rolls were beyond amazing….soft and savory…just the perfect accompaniment to any meal. The winner, Danielle B. dedicates this recipe to the memory of her mother. Her mother introduced her to her love of potatoes, and called them “friends” when they had them for dinner. Chasing Supermom and Idahoan send our love and best wishes and are sorry for your loss. However, I know your mother would be proud of this winning recipe, and would have loved to serve these “friends” on her dinner table.
The rest of you will DEFINITELY want to serve these rolls as well!
Here is what you’ll need to make these DELICIOUS rolls!

Two delicious ingredients going in!
After you have mixed this together for the first initial 30 seconds, beat on high for another 3 minutes.
Add parsley, sage, celery seed, and enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Knead on a floured surface for approximately 8 minutes, or until dough is smooth. (I let my Kitchen Aid mixer do the kneading for me, but the original recipe author kneads by hand.) Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to make sure all sides of the dough are greased. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for about one hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
Here is a picture of my dough before it had risen.
Punch the dough down and begin shaping into small balls. Place the balls on a greased baking sheet, and let rise until they are doubled in size (about 30 minutes.)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Bake these tasty little rolls for about 12 minutes, or until lightly brown.
Now, try not to eat them all by yourself! These rolls were SO delicious, and I knew the second I made them that they were going to be hard to beat in this contest! I hope you will try this recipe out! The combination of the garlic potatoes and the herbs make these rolls irresistibly good! Thank you to all of you who took the time to enter the recipe contest. How happy this makes me that my favorite recipe won this fantastic contest! I don’t know if you know how much you warmed my heart with this wonderful acknowledgement. Thank you so very much!
With a little different thought- I think this recipe would be great making bread sticks, sounds like they would be great with pasta.
Kinda reminds me of my Grandma Tiffany’s potatoe rolls(without the herbs)
