I have always been a big believer in canned gravy. My husband’s family is CRAZY over the gravy you make out of the drippings from turkey/ham/ etc, but I’ve never quite jumped on board. I was never too wild about the taste and thought learning to make gravy myself seemed far too daunting…especially when I could just purchase the little jar of gravy from the store. No longer my friends. Tonight, I stumbled upon the world’s best (*in my Chasing Supermom opinion) country gravy recipe….quite by accident.

I was preparing a home-made chicken pot pie per the request of my daughter for her first day of school meal. (Yep, chicken pot pie on a 90 degree day….the love I have for my children is real.) As I was going to wash the pan I prepared the sauce in, I absentmindedly licked some of the remains from the side of the pan. Oh. My. Word. I knew I had discovered new ground….Gravy had been made.

Here is what you will need to make this EASY and OH SO DELICIOUS country gravy!

Ingredients

3 T butter

3 T flour

1 cup milk (*We have 1% in the house, and that worked fine)

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/4 t pepper

1/2 t salt

1/2 t poultry seasoning

dash of Savory

To Prepare

1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. When melted, stir in the flour, and stir until smooth.

2. Add in the milk and chicken broth, stirring until smooth. Add your seasonings.

3. Increase heat and heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Stir at a boil for two minutes, and remove from heat.

4. And it’s all gravy folks. =) Enjoy!!

This would be excellent on mashed potatoes, biscuits, chicken fried steak….lots of possibilities! Good gravy, make some today!
