I had pulled pork on the menu for yesterday. It was going to be a busy day, and I knew I needed something I could throw in the crockpot before MOPS. As I was searing off my pork shoulder, I went to the pantry to get a bottle of bbq sauce, and discovered that we didn’t have any. Hmm….what was a girl to do? Make her own of course! The result was sweet, tangy, and delicious!

Now, as some of you more faithful readers may know, I don’t ever measure unless I’m baking….However, I am going to do my best to approximate what I used for all of you who need exact measurements when cooking. (You can pretty much eyeball most of these ingredients though, and your sauce will turn out fine!)

Ingredients

1 cup ketchup

1/3 cup Zesty Italian dressing

1/3 cup -1/2 cup brown sugar (depending on how sweet you like your sauce)

1 T honey

2 T apple cider vinegar

2 T yellow mustard

Simply mix together all ingredients and use as you would a jarred bbq sauce. This was great on the pork, and would be terrific on my Crockpot BBQ Chicken recipe as well!  Enjoy this tasty homemade bbq sauce!
