A few weeks ago, I mentioned that my family got the chance to play a NEW game as part of our Family Fun Night. I’ll be honest, I’ve been given a LOT of games to review. Tri-FACTA was the first game that genuinely caught my attention. I could not wait to play this game with my daughter.
As soon as I opened the package, my teacher-heart jumped for joy. I could not believe I was holding such a powerful learning tool in my hands….AND I knew that my daughter would think it was FUN. Tri-FACTa teaches children the same way many of them are learning in school, through fact families.
Players work to build fact families, as they try to get rid of their number cards. In the tray shown above, a player has played a 5, a 3, and a 2. 5-3=2. 3+2=5. 5-2=3. (I seriously LOVE this game!) Kids are building up their math fact fluency, as they work to look for connections throughout the game. The next player could cover up the 5 with a 6, and the 2 with a 3, to build a new fact family. I love that this game challenges kids to learn their math facts in a FUN and non-threatening way. Kids are actively engaged during play, and their minds are working to make connections throughout game-play. This could be a real game-changer for kids who have been struggling to learn their addition and subtraction facts.
You can purchase Tri-FACTa HERE. You can choose from the Addition/Subtraction game that my family reviewed, or select the Multiplication/Division option. The game retails for just $19.99, and is PERFECT for kiddos just learning or wanting to improve their math facts.
