Spend some quality time learning and playing this summer with your child and The Schoolies! The Schoolies are a group of adorable animal friends created by artist and designer Ellen Crimi-Trent, who help your child get ready for school. Whether your child needs an extra boost of academic skills like alphabet recognition, letter formation, etc, or some encouragement about making friends and getting through that sometimes scary first day.
We have been pulling out The Schoolies during our “Learning Box” time. My soon to be kindergartner has been enjoying the activity books and stories, and I plan on using some of the products with my two year old in the fall to get him started on his literacy journey.
If you have a preschooler, you will want to check out The Schoolies! Visit the official Schoolies site HERE. (You can purchase all of these great products on their site!)

My School Day ā From waking up to favorite lessons to the bus ride home, kids will love learning to tell time as they spend a day with the Schoolies. Includes a play clock with moveable hands so young readers can turn to the right time as the Schoolies enjoy their day.
My favorite aspect of this book was the focus on telling time. Time is a concept that can easily frustrate children, so I love that this book introduces it in a fun and non-threatening way. This is a great introduction and a fun rainy day activity.
School House ā Fold-out pages create four scenes in and around the Schoolies school house. Includes press-out play characters and accessories, plus sticker sheets.
My daughter enjoyed playing with this. These are a lot like paper dolls with an academic twist! Kids can have an afternoon of pretend play with the Schoolie friends, or you can help your child prepare for different school scenarios by role-playing with the Schoolie characters and scenes!
Letās Get Ready For School ā Early learning book with wipe-clean pages so that all of the activities can be repeated, reinforcing learning.
My kids have always been huge fans of wipe-clean activities. I love this type of activity book as opposed to a worksheet, as your child can practice over and over again! (Or in my case, my two younger children will be able to use these books when they are ready without me having to buy another workbook!) Wipe-clean activity books are always worth the investment.
Another tip is to keep a wipe-clean activity book like Let’s Get Ready for School in the car or in your purse to pull out on long car rides, waiting rooms, or the shopping cart! Amuse your child with something worthwhile!
Making Friends and My First Day of School Storybooks ā Two reassuring and positive stories about overcoming shyness and being nervous to start school. Books include two sheets of fun Schoolies stickers.
My son and I had a lot of fun reading and discussing this book together. Henry will be going into kindergarten in the fall and can be quite shy. I loved the way these books introduced the concept of making friends. These also helped him know just what to expect as he starts school.
Activity Flash Cards ā Neat boxful of 26, double-sided Schoolies activity flash cards to help children learn their ABC, 123, colors, shapes and more.
These take flash cards to a whole new level! Lean ABC’s, opposites, colors, and more…AND get some letter formation practice too!
