The minute the weather starts to turn, I start thinking about some of my favorite fall activities. I start to get excited about upcoming trips to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, pie making, leaf jumping, and pulling out all of my Halloween decorations. Okay truth to told…I start getting excited about candy corn…Did I mention I may or may not have a slight major addiction to candy corn this time of year? Thank the Lord they are seasonal!
I wanted to whip up a fun Halloweenish treat for “the kids” that included fall colors and a bit of fun. These krispy treats combine the holy grail of holiday sugar….chocolate, marshmallow, and candy corn. It’s a Halloween dessert trifecta of deliciousness. Get your kids in the kitchen and whip up a batch of these fun Halloween Rice Krispy Treats! They’re spooktacular. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.)
Ingredients
3 T butter
6 1/2 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
6 cups chocolate rice cereal
3/4 cup candy corn
To Prepare
1. Melt the butter and 6 cups of the marshmallows over medium heat in a large pot. Stir continuously, until the butter and marshmallows have fully melted.
2. Remove from heat and stir in the cereal.
3. Gently fold in the remaining 1/2 cup marshmallows and candy corn.
4. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 pan, and let cool. Cut into squares and enjoy!
