*I received free tickets to a special preview of About Time. All opinions are my own.

I walked out of the theater last night more in love with my husband, more appreciative of my beautiful ordinary life, and with a deeper appreciation of family. When was the last time a movie did that for YOU?

One of my favorite film-makers, Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral) delivers his most personal film to date (and it’s AMAZING!!!) – About Time.

The message of About Time is one I will be thinking about for days to come – as I stop and consider my family, my marriage, and the day to day life we lead. With humor, charm, tenderness, and crazy believability, Curtis delivers a must-see film.

About TimeThe relationship between Mary (the always lovable Rachel McAdams) and Tim had such an air of realism -that you nearly forgot you were watching a film. As they met (and re-met, and re-met again!) the film brought to mind my relationship with my husband – bringing to mind my own falling-in-love experience. Their story was honest, charming, and a joy to watch. (And truth be told, I preferred the match-up of McAdams and Gleeson to that of McAdams and Gosling! Their onscreen chemistry was magical!)

I absolutely LOVED the relationship between Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) and his father (Bill Nighy). The father-son relationship was a pillar of the film, and About Timeadded such a nice change-up from typical formulaic romantic comedies.

About Time is anything but formulaic. At times, you thought the story was going in one direction, only to find it taking another path. The time-travel dimension kept you guessing (and never seemed trite or overdone!) and kept the film fresh and exciting.

About Time is a story of family, love, and appreciating this gloriously everyday life we’ve been given. I cannot recommend this movie enough.

This film is rated R and releases on November 1st. Make a date and plan to go see this movie!!!

The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim’s father (Bill Nighy) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can’t change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life—so he decides to make his world a better place…by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as you might think.

Moving from the Cornwall coast to London to train as a lawyer, Tim finally meets the beautiful but insecure Mary (Rachel McAdams). They fall in love, then an unfortunate time-travel incident means he’s never met her at all. So they meet for the first time again—and again—but finally, after a lot of cunning time traveling, he wins her heart.

Tim then uses his power to create the perfect romantic proposal, to save his wedding from the worst best-man speeches and to save his best friend from professional disaster. But as his unusual life progresses, Tim finds out that his unique gift can’t save him from the sorrows and ups and downs that affect all families, everywhere. There are great limits to what time travel can achieve, and it can be dangerous, too.

About Time is a comedy about love and time travel, which discovers that, in the end, making the most of life may not need time travel at all.
