Is there anything quite like a cup of hot cocoa on a chilly night? With near record-low temps here, I wanted to do something fun for my kids that would warm them up! (All while creating a fun little memory too!) I decided a special Hot Cocoa Night was in order, and got busy gathering the supplies we needed to whip up a few cups of cheer.
I started by gathering a selection of toppings for our Hot Cocoa Bar. Some ideas include:
whipped cream, marshmallows, candy canes, crushed candy canes or peppermints, sprinkles, a scoop of ice cream (super fun and tasty way to cool your drink down!), sprinkles, crushed cookie bits, chocolate chips….the sky is the limit!
Next, I got out a few of our special Christmas mugs. The kids LOVE it when I pull these out, and look forward to using them during December.
I whipped up a quick little Hot Cocoa Menu for the kids. I listed their choices of toppings, and let them fill out their “order.” I can’t even tell you how fun they thought this was! (And, I’m not sure why I was surprised that they selected EVERY topping!)
Print out a copy of my Hot Cocoa Menu. (This will be easy for you to modify to match your toppings.)
With very little effort I was able to turn a very ordinary experience into something really special for my kids. Set aside an evening this December and have a Hot Cocoa Night with your family.
