The Winter Olympics are a phenomenal opportunity to get your kids excited about reading. Even hesitant readers may be willing to pick up a book that explores one of their favorite winter sports. As you watch the games as a family, note your child’s interests. Then, look for books that match their interests – following their lead.
I’ve compiled a list of 25 great books for kids. The list includes both fiction and non-fiction titles. I also included several books pertaining to specific sports in the winter games. If your child becomes fascinated with skiing, you might want to check out Learning to Ski with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen. If your kiddo is suddenly trying to do triple toe loops in their socks on the kitchen floor, you may want to read Dream Big Little Pig by Kristi Yamaguchi. From fact-filled books to adorable picture books, you and your child will have fun reading about the Winter Olympics. Happy watching and happy reading!
