Mountains, movements, and success stories aren’t built overnight. Sometimes the best things, aren’t the immediate things. Good things are worth waiting for – worth pouring into – worth years of blood, sweat, and determination.
While at the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Conference, I was blessed to hear from two incredible speakers who shared with us about the Cars franchise, and in turn, inspired me as a blogger and as a person. Jay Ward, Creative Director for the Cars Franchise (AKA- Cars Legacy Guardian) and Kathy Mangum, Executive Producer and VP of Disney Imagineering spoke about the power in and importance of details and time.
As a culture, we’re not very proficient in waiting, and often skim over the details to get to the “meat.” We often shy away from processes and ventures that require large amounts of our time and effort. We can’t be afraid of things that take time- of those things that require strenuous effort, long hours, and endless details. “Love is in the details. You know you love your work when the details excite you.” ~ Jay Ward, Creative Director Cars Franchise
As you stroll through Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure, it’s evident how much love went into it.Visitors to the park are transported from Anaheim straight into Radiator Springs. Cruise the streets and experience everything you’ve come to know and love about Cars. Fill up at Flo’s V8 Cafe, stop in at pop by the Cozy Cone, or pick up something new at Sarge’s Surplus Hut.
It’s clear within moments of setting foot into Cars Land how much the amazingly talented imagineers and executives love their job. No detail was left untouched. Everywhere you look you see authenticity.
The Cars Land team was willing to travel the path, and take the journey needed to achieve greatness. It took time. It took dedication. It took a research trip down Route 66.
As the team traveled the classic route, ideas were born, concepts were developed, and creativity was sparked. They were unafraid to put in the time and hard work. When you start with a great idea, lean in to change, allow your concept to grow and develop, and let personality permeate your brand or project – greatness can be achieved.
Cars Land is a triumph and an inspiration. While we were there, we were able to experience Radiator Springs Racers.
This ride is meticulously done. It is the perfect blend of story and thrill. It’s everything you love about Lightning McQueen’s journey. You can’t help but feel exhilaration as you race through the hills of Radiator Springs. Your heart swells as you feel the change in McQueen. The music, characters, and breathtaking setting will take you through a full range of emotions. It’s incredible – and a one-of-a-kind experience.
Cars Land is a masterpiece. The incredible team was able to capture the essence of Cars by infusing it with all of the kitsch, heart, and unexpected beauty of Route 66.
*I was invited to attend the 2014 Disney Social Media Mom’s Conference. I paid an event fee to attend. While at the conference, I received free products, unique experiences, and deep discounts. All opinions are my own. I was not asked to blog about my experience.
