Who cut off Medusa’s head? Who was raised by a she-bear? Who tamed Pegasus? It takes a demigod to know, and Percy Jackson can fill you in on the all the daring deeds of Perseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, and the rest of the major Greek heroes.
Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes by acclaimed author Rick Riordan is a comical and refreshing take on Greek mythology. In his words, Percy will tell you how the Greek heroes “boldly screwed up where no one had screwed up before!” Couple the entertaining book with absolutely stunning illustrations by Caldecott Honoree John Rocco, and you have a can’t-miss book – especially if you are a Percy Jackson fan!
Rick Riordan cracks me up, and so seamlessly interjects humor and numerous pop culture references in the myths we learned growing up. It’s fantastic. For example, this line cracked me up – “Poseidon was a total sucker for Donna Summer. Don’t ask me.” Fabulous right? In another chapter, Zeus orders pizza and throws on a little Justin Timberlake. Rick Riordan is the master of the Greek mythology re-mix. [tweetherder][/tweetherder]
You’ve seriously got to check out this book. If the only myth reading you did was in high school Engligh, you need to see these stories through new eyes. (And you might score some “cool points” with your kids while you’re at it!)
