In less than a week, we will begin homeschooling. This year, I am so excited to have a child starting kindergarten! He could not be happier and is so eager to learn. I can’t wait.

Despite spending three years as a kindergarten classroom teacher, I am always on the look-out for “go-to” teaching and learning tools. I love having “ready to use” activities on hand. Learning Resources never disappoints. I was able to check out a couple of their new products which were designed with your kindergartner (or soon-to-be kindergartner!) in mind! These products are affordable, engaging, educational, and easy to use. Any parent or caregiver can easily pull this kit off the shelf and implement one of the guided activities or simply allow their child to play with and explore some of the manipulatives.

The All Ready for Kindergarten Readiness Kit is a must-have for parents wanting to prep their preschoolers for the year ahead or give their kindergartners extra at-home practice. At just $29.99, the kit is a bargain, containing so many vital manipulatives and reusable resources. You will struggle to find a better value. This incredible kit includes:

• 60 Shape pieces      • 52 Upper and lowercase letters with lace      • 34 Picture cards      • 20 Puzzle cards      • 20 critter counters      • 1 Gator grabber fine motor tool      • 1 Write-and-wipe board      • 1 Number cube      • 32-Page Parent Guide (over 60 leveled activities)      • 24-Page write-and-wipe Activity Book      • Storage Box

In addition to my kindergartner, I have a daughter who will be starting preschool activities this year. She and I have been working on letter recognition. I am absolutely LOVING the alphabet lacing letters included in this kit. Not only is she learning to recognize both upper and lowercase letters (and colors!), she is also working to develop her fine motor skills, which are so critical at her stage of development.

As we transition into our homeschool year, the kids will use the tangrams as part of our math program, and will enjoy practicing their letter formation on the included write and wipe board. (I LOVE write and wipe boards!!! Kids can practice over and over again with no wasted paper!) Everything in the kit is a gem – from the oversized die to the absolutely adorable (and so versatile!) shapes that can be used for sorting.

Picnic Party is a fantastic resource for parents and caregivers looking to give their children a boost in math skills. (Not to mention that playing games with preschoolers teaches them a wide variety of important skills such as turn-taking, logic, critical thinking, sportsmanship, and more!)

In this new game from Learning Resources, preschoolers will learn to count and compare numbers as they navigate their ant through the picnic, taking fun shortcuts like the watermelon wedge and corncob along the way! My son has fun playing a fun game (and usually beating his mom!), and I love that he is learning all about numbers. Even my older children enjoy playing Picnic Party! At $19.99, this is a fantastic deal.
