As a parent, there is almost nothing sweeter than watching my kids become life-long readers. When a book grabs their attention, it’s almost magical – and I love waiting to see how the story affects them as a young reader. The Nocturnals by Tracey Hecht grabbed my son’s attention right away. As soon as he saw the book sitting on my desk, he snatched it up and said, “Cool! Can I read this?!” As an animal lover, he was immediately drawn to the book – and couldn’t wait to find out more about the unique characters in this adventure story.
If you have young readers at your house, you are definitely going to want to pick up a copy of this book!
About the Book:
βWe can be bold in adventure-β
βWe can be brave in challenge-β
βWe can be friends.β
The Nocturnals features three unlikely friends: Dawn, a serious fox, Tobin, a sweet pangolin and Bismark, the loud mouthed, pint sized sugar glider.Β The stories all play out in their nighttime world with teamwork, friendship and humor in every adventure.
In The Mysterious Abductions, the animals form a brigade of the night after a random encounter with a blood-thirsty snake, and just in time because something is threatening their night realm. Animals are disappearing without a trace. Together with the help of a wombat, a band of coyotes and many others, Dawn, Tobin and Bismark journey to the depths of the earth in a wacky, high stakes game that will determine all of their survival.
There are SO Β many fun extras I have to share with you for this book! Check them out and have some fun with this book. (If you’re a homeschooler, you could create a great little mini-unit for this book!!)
