As parents, we take special care to surround our kids with a wide variety of reading material and make sure they know their math facts, but how much thought do we give to the music our child is exposed to? Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood seamlessly integrates classical music into a rich and immersive storytelling experience.
Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood is a revival of the classic Peter and the Wolf tale brought to you by acclaimed production company, Giants Are Small. This version brings Peter to Hollywood to meet his hippie grandfather while bringing classical music elements to life. Peter, along with all of the characters in the movie book, are narrated and brought to life by Rock n’ Roll legend, Alice Cooper. (He is brilliant as the narrator!)
In a fast-paced world, I love and appreciate experiences that can slow our children down. Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood immerses your child into STORY. As they listen to the revamped and modernized version of the classic tale, they’ll hear nearly an hour of gorgeous musical score. The app itself is visually stunning – a masterful combination of handmade mixed media that truly draws each participant further into the story. The artistry alone is sure to inspire creativity and curiosity.
The combination of storytelling and classical music is magical, enticing, and appealing. My 5 year old son was the first to interact with the app. Within five minutes, my 4 year old had joined him. Within 10 minutes, my 8 year old and 10 year old were also on the couch – watching the story unfold.
This beautiful musical storybook features 8 games – all very intentionally placed and designed to advance the music. There is enough interaction to keep children engaged while still keeping music at the heart of each activity. Connect musical footprints, interact with a duck and a bird (classic characters from the original tale!), connect the stars to form constellations, build a robot (my kindergartner’s favorite!), and even attempt to catch the wolf!
The app also features a music section, allowing your child to learn more about the instruments which represent each character. They’ll also be able to learn more about the composers featured in the app, and listen to clips of each composer’s best work. (Now that’s a win!)
