When I was a child, I’d eagerly anticipate the arrival of a new Zoobooks Magazine in our mailbox each month. I couldn’t wait to find out which animal I’d be learning about.

My Zoobooks were a part of my classroom library when I taught second grade and kindergarten, and now they are part of our homeschool library. I love that a magazine subscription someone purchased for me back in 1988 has helped so many children learn!

As a parent, I can’t wait to see the animal adventures my own children go on through Zoobooks. It’s exciting to think of the ways they may be inspired, the connections they might make, and the things they may want to learn more about – all through studying animals with the help of Zoobooks!

I LOVE sharing Zoobooks with my children – and you can too! There is a Zoobooks subscription that is just right for every learner!

Zoobooks is published by Wildlife Education, Ltd., established in 1980 to provide wild learning fun for children of all ages. Since then, the Wildlife Education family of award-winning publications has grown to include:

  • Zootles, for younger readers 3 to 6 years old, launched in 2005
  • Zoobies, for the littlest learners 0 to 3 years old, launched  in 2008
  • Zoodinos for learners 5+, just launched!!

My two oldest children, a 5th grader and a 3rd grader – both LOVE Zoobooks and Zoodinos. I love that they are diving into non-fiction during reading time and they love learning all about animals. (They are always incredibly eager to share the animal facts they’ve learned too! Did you know that the ears of an African elephant can weight 110 pounds?!)

My kindergartner is loving being able to read Zootles with me! It is wonderful to have something high-quality AND engaging that is written with emergent readers in mind! The enlarged text, high interest activities, and inclusion of phonics/early reading skills make this the ideal magazine for kids in preschool -1st grade.

Even the youngest of learners can enjoy learning about animals with the help of Zoobies! Sturdier (more like a book than a magazine) and full of high-interest photographs and illustrations, Zoobies presents toddlers with factual animal information in kid-friendly language. The pages have just the right amount of text. Kids are learning -but even the wiggliest of young learners will be able to sit and listen without losing interest. Spark a love of animals early!!

I highly encourage you to head over to www.zoobooks.com and learn more about each of the subscriptions Zoobooks has to offer. You can flip through a digital sample of each subscription and find the Zoobooks that is right for YOUR child!!
