Disney Book Group sent me a copy of The Mortification of Fovea Munson to check out and is partnering with me for a giveaway! Opinions are my own.
I have a big stack of books for every holiday. We read about leprechauns and rainbows in March, turkeys and gratitude in November, and in October – it’s all things pumpkins, skeletons, and friendly ghosts. There are tons of fun options for the younger crowd. While my first and second graders are still into the picture books about trick-or-treating dinosaurs and friendly jack-o-lanterns, my middle-grade readers are ready for something a bit more their speed.
The Mortification of Fovea Munson was right up their alley! This book is wonderfully quirky with just the right amount of spookiness. It’s the PERFECT Halloween read for upper elementary/middle grade/tween readers.
About the Book:
Fovea Munson is nobody’s Igor.
True, her parents own a cadaver lab where they perform surgeries on dead bodies. And yes, that makes her gross by association, at least according to everyone in seventh grade. And sure, Fovea’s stuck working at the lab now that her summer camp plans have fallen through. But she is by no means Dr. Frankenstein’s snuffling assistant! That is, until three disembodied heads, left to thaw in the wet lab, start talking. To her. Out loud. What seems like a nightmare, or bizarre hallucination, is not. Fovea is somebody’s Igor, all right. Three somebodies, actually. And they need a favor.
With a madcap sense of humor and a lot of heart (not to mention other body parts), this is a story about finding oneself, finding one’s friends, and embracing the moment.

The Mortification of Fovea Munson Giveaway
2 years ago my son and his father dressed up as earth Vader and an ewok. That to this day has been our best Halloween ever! Now this year we have the twins so we are going as baby sharks… momma shark.. daddy shark.. and brother shark
When my oldest daughter was 3 she wanted to be a green crayon in the box. We had so much fun making her costume and then going out trick or treating.
My son’s favorite costume was Sponge Bob costume
Right now it’s moana but it has previously been witches
I was a duck one year and look silly, haha!
I love when my kids have been pirates or princesses.
My son loves his BB-8 costume:)
Happy Halloween!
Thank You’
