Simon & Schuster is partnering with me for a giveaway! Opinions are my own.

There’s a new DORK in town! New from #1 bestselling Dork Diaries author Rachel Renée Russell, The Misadventures of Max Crumbly series follows the adventures of undercover middle school hero, Max Crumbly.

Set in the world of the mega-hit series Dork Diaries, The Misadventures of Max Crumbly stars Max Crumbly, friend to Nikki Maxwell of Dork Diaries, who goes to a different school and manages to get into a whole lot of trouble. The series is written in diary format with illustrations and doodles of Max’s mishaps.

As a parent and teacher, I love finding books with everyday characters who face a wide range of ups and downs, encounter a diverse group of people, and learn to embrace who they are – all with a good dash of humor and fun.

The Max Crumbly series appeals to middle schoolers because Max captures what’s going on in their world. He faces bullies, finds himself in tricky situations, makes friends, makes mistakes, and has FUN along the way.

My daughter discovered the  Dork Diaries series from author Rachel Renée Russell several years ago – and couldn’t get enough. (She still loves them.) I knew Hannah would enjoy reading the Max Crumbly series – much the same way we as adults enjoy “crossover” episodes of our favorite shows. It’s fun to keep up with beloved characters and settings – and fans of the Dork Diaries books will definitely enjoy new stories from the same literary world.

However, the relatable male protagonist really appealed to my son who is just entering middle school. Henry found the first two books in The Misadventures of Max Crumbly series at the library several months ago – and loved them. He couldn’t stop flipping the pages.

I wish I would have gotten a picture of his face when I told him we were getting to review the newest book in the series – The Misadventures of Max Crumbly #3: Masters of Mischief! He was SO excited, and dove right into the book as soon as it arrived. Just about nothing else makes my heart as happy as watching my kids enjoying a book.

My son is already eager for the NEXT installment of Max Crumbly. He said the book finishes with a great cliffhanger, and he just has to know what happens next. (I love this!)

If you have a tween/middle schooler in your life, I encourage you to check out author Rachel Renée Russell’s books! Help them find their new favorite.
