Back when my husband and I were first married, I would make Peach Yum Yum several times a month. We loved it, and it quickly became my “go-to” dessert whenever we had company. It was easy to prepare, cheap to make, and delicious to eat!

I forgot about Peach Yum Yum for several years. (Sometimes I think Pinterest makes us shy away from our “tried and true” in search of the NEW….but that’s another post.) A few weeks ago, the canned peaches at the grocery store caught my eye- and I found myself throwing them in the cart for this very dessert.

I actually blogged the recipe for Peach Yum Yum back in 2010, during the very first month Chasing Supermom was up and running! But, that was back before I knew about things like food photography – and sadly, that post has no pictures.

This recipe could also be called a “dump cake” – but isn’t Peach Yum Yum just more fun to say? No matter what you call it, it’s simple, delicious, and a great dessert to make if you’re craving something sweet but are short on pantry baking staples like flour, sugar, eggs, etc.

I’ve updated my original recipe just a bit, and hope you enjoy it! Happy baking everyone.


1 29 oz. can sliced peaches

1 15 oz can sliced peaches

1/2 box standard sized yellow cake mix

6 T butter or margarine (melted) *You can use a whole stick of butter (or more) if you want to make sure you don’t have as much cake batter “powder.”


To Prepare: 

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Dump the cans of peaches (juice and all) into a 13×9 casserole pan. You can leave the peach slices as they are, or cut them into smaller pieces. I left mine as they were.

Sprinkle the cake mix on top of the peaches.

Save your leftover cake mix to mix up a batch of my Cake Batter Pancakes! (They’re SO good!)

Next, melt your butter in the microwave, and pour over the top of the cake mix.

Next, pop your pan into the oven. 

Bake for approximately 35 minutes, or until the top is a light golden brown.

This is delicious served right out of the oven OR served cold. The dish will be a bit runnier when served right out of the oven – but I just love the taste of warm peaches mixed with the cake batter. We always top with some whipped cream – although vanilla ice cream is delicious too.
