I’ve always wanted to make Resurrection Rolls with my kids, and finally got around to it today. Not only are these rolls delicious, they are a great visual reminder of what Easter is all about.
As the kids and I prepared our rolls, we talked about the Easter story. The crescent roll dough stood for the tomb, where they laid Jesus. The marshmallow stood for Jesus, and the butter and cinnamon/sugar – the oils and spices they used to prepare his body. As we cinched up the rolls, we talked about how they rolled the stone in front of the tomb. And then…..
After baking, the marshmallow has melted. He is not here! He is risen!!
We loved this small reminder of what Jesus did for us at Easter. As a bonus, these are easy to make and a great cooking project to do with young kids. (And they’re SO good – think inside-out cinnamon roll! We’re seriously considering these for Christmas morning! They’re that good!)
Ingredients:
1 tube Big n’ Flaky Crescent Rolls
8 big marshmallows
2 T melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
2 T cinnamon
To Prepare:
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
Unroll the crescent dough and separate into eight triangles.
Flatten each triangle out just a bit.
Dip a marshmallow in the melted butter, and then roll in the cinnamon sugar.
Place the sugared marshmallow in the center of the dough.
Cinch up the sides and place the rolls on a cookie sheet. (*We chose to dip the tops of our rolls in the remaining melted butter and cinnamon/sugar mix!)
Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
Happy Easter everyone! Enjoy!
